The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and regulatory compliance bodies reaffirmed the mandatory enforcement of the updated Electrical Appliances QCO 2026, set to take effect for general manufacturers on October 1, 2026. Replacing earlier transitional orders, the mandate covers 90 categories of household and commercial appliances, including blenders, electric kettles, and toasters. Foreign manufacturers and domestic producers must complete factory audits and type testing against IS 302 (Part 1):2024 / IEC 60335 standards to secure a BIS license and display the ISI Mark. Non-compliant shipments will face immediate customs detention and distribution bans across India. Compliance advisors urge exporting factories to finalize certification to prevent trade disruptions.
